Chapter 1.0 – My Bicycle
The poem is about a red bicycle that the child happily rides everywhere. It has a blue seat, black tyres, and a ringing bell. The child wears a helmet and enjoys riding safely.
Chapter 2.0 – Picture Reading
Jeet and Babli played many games on a holiday. When their ball got lost in a locked garden, Babli made a new ball from rags and paper. They continued playing, and Babli caught a piece of the torn ball, shouting "OUT!"
Chapter 3.0 – It is Fun
It’s fun to leap, climb, hop, swim, trot, and fly like different animals. I can act like them all and enjoy being this and that!
Chapter 4.0 – Seeing without Seeing
Onshangla meets a new boy in her class who cannot see. Her mother, Ava, teaches her how to use other senses to understand the world, helping Onshangla learn to be kind and friendly to the new boy.
Chapter 5.0 – Come Back Soon
This poem talks about different ways to travel— by bus, train, boat, plane, taxi, car, and even rocket. It reminds us that no matter where we go, we should always come back soon.
Chapter 6.0 – Between Home and School
Ravi and his friend walk to school every day through paddy fields and a mango grove. They have fun jumping over canals, climbing trees, and watching lizards, yet always reach school on time.
Chapter 7.0 – This is My Town
This is a description of a town and its parts, starting from streets to houses, rooms, beds, and a basket with flowers. It shows how everything is connected, from flowers in a basket to the town itself.
Chapter 8.0 – A Show of Clouds
The poem describes lying on the back and looking up at the sky, where clouds form shapes like a bear, a ship, and an elephant. It’s fun to imagine and see whatever shapes you want in the clouds.
Chapter 9.0 – My Name
A little fly forgot his name and asked several friends— the ant, tree, cow, grass, and leaf— but no one knew. When the wind blew the leaf away, the fly remembered his name happily.
Chapter 10.0 – The Crow
A crow wanted to be colorful and stuck peacock feathers on himself to look beautiful. But the other crows laughed and told him that he is beautiful just the way he is—in black.
Chapter 11.0 – The Smart Monkey
Anju and Farida bought snacks and rested under a tree where a monkey was eating a banana. The monkey threw the peel in the dustbin, which made Anju and Farida realize their mistake.
Chapter 12.0 – Little Drops of Water
Small drops of water and grains of sand come together to form the ocean and land. Similarly, little acts of love and kindness bring happiness and smiles to the world.
Chapter 13.0 – We are all Indians
Children from different parts of India share their unique languages and festivals, showing the country’s diversity. They learn about Mahatma Gandhi and his spinning wheel, the charkha. The chapter also describes several Indian festivals that celebrate nature and culture.
Chapter 13.1 – Something New
In the classroom, students discover a mysterious object — a charkha. Their teacher explains that it was used by Mahatma Gandhi to spin thread and is a symbol of self-reliance and India's freedom movement.
Chapter 13.2 – Phool Dei Festival
Phool Dei is a spring festival where children collect and offer flowers at neighbors' doorsteps. In return, elders bless them and give rice and jaggery as a token of love and good wishes.
Chapter 13.3 – Sharad Poornima
Sharad Poornima is celebrated on a full moon night in the month of Ashvin. It marks the end of the monsoon season and is enjoyed during pleasant weather.
Chapter 13.4 – Aadi Perukku
Aadi Perukku is a Tamil festival celebrated in the month of Aadi. People worship the river Cauvery and farmers pray for a good harvest during the monsoon season.
Chapter 13.5 – Pang Lhabsol
Pang Lhabsol is a festival celebrated in Sikkim during August or September. People worship Mt. Kanchenjunga as a protector and celebrate with traditional dances and rituals.
